SAS Certification

Most importantly, we offer two SAS (Statistical Analysis System) Courses. After taking either course, the student has the option of taking the SAS certification exam, for either SAS Base Programming or SAS Advanced Programming. Indeed, a recent student took our Advanced SAS class and passed the certification exam. SAS has become, in the last two years, very widely employed in business and in scholarship for research purposes; the pharmaceutical industry, as well as many of the Fortune 500 companies, have found it an especially effective method for research. KSI’s SAS program will help participants from a wide range of professions obtain valuable skills and the credentials needed to get promoted or find better jobs. We offer two courses:

SAS Base Programming (MA 377): This course offers an accessible introduction to the language. Attendees become familiar with the basic concepts and techniques of SAS programming in either the SAS or SAS Enterprise Guide programming workspace. This includes creating data, modifying and combining data sets, summarizing and presenting data and debugging SAS programs.
Certification Exam: After taking the SAS Base Programming course, students are encouraged to take the SAS Certified Base Programmer credential for SAS 9 exam.

SAS Advanced Programming (MA 379): For students who complete the introductory course and want to learn more, or those who already have programming and statistics knowledge, the Advanced SAS class takes a practical, case-study approach and shows students how to apply their knowledge. The SAS Advanced Programming course will introduce students to inferential statistics, including the chi-square test, independent and paired-sample t-tests, bivariate correlations, regression and univariate and repeated measures ANOVA using realtime data. After completing this course, the student should be able to obtain descriptive statistics, create a frequency table, create a cross tabulation table, perform a chi-square test of independence, use t-tests, conduct regression analysis, and specify basic ANOVA models using SAS.
Certification Exam: After taking the SAS Advanced Programming Course, students are encouraged to take the SAS Certified Advanced Programmer credential for SAS 9 exam.

C#

C# 2005 is an object-oriented programming language and designed to work with Microsoft's .NET platform. The objective of course is to help student learn about the solid fundamentals and mechanics of Visual C# 2005 through the detailed lectures, the executable examples and hand-on labs in an accelerated amount of time. By course completion, students will have the ability to develop a safe, simple, and highly portable consol application the works effectively with Microsoft's .NET platform.

Course Content

  • C# and Visual C# 2005 Express Edition IDE
  • Language Fundamentals
  • Control Statements
  • Introduction to Classes and Objects
  • Object-Oriented Programming: Inheritance
  • Interfaces, Polymorphism and Operator Overloading

JAVA

Introduction to Java - CIS321 Computer Languages (Java): Java is one of the most widely used languages in practice today. Java technology is both a programming language and a platform. Java, a high-level third-generation language, can be used to write computer applications that process numbers and words, play games, store data, or achieve any of the innumerable goals for which software has been designed. Because Java is a simple, practical and accessible code, students new to the subject can become proficient in a short period of time.
Certification Exam: After students complete the Introduction to Java course, they are encouraged to take the JAVA certification exam. Upon passing the exam, the student will receive the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 6 certificate.

Java GUI - CIS323 Java GUI: This course extends the level of certificate training presented in the introductory course. This session emphasizes Java Swing, a toolkit of Java Foundation Classes, defines the look and feel of the graphical user interface (GUI). Java Swing streamlines the design of Java GUI and allows users to create an attractive and efficient GUI that can be customized for relevant applications. In sixteen classes, students will be exposed to the history, basic concepts, and core features of the language.

J2EE

Today, more and more developers want to write distributed transactional applications for the enterprise and thereby leverage the speed, security, and reliability of server-side technology. The objective of course is to help student to gain a comprehensive knowledge of enterprise application architectures and to develop J2EE enterprise applications on most java-based application servers. Upon completing the course, students become acquainted with J2EE architecture and having the ability to develop medium-size platform-independent J2EE applications.

Prerequisites

  • CIS 321 Computer Language ( Introduction to Java )
  • CIS 322 Object-Oriented Programming ( C# 2005 )
  • Student should have the previous experience in Java programming or a equivalent in C# programming language. In addition, A little of understanding on relation database is required.

Course Content

  • Introduction to Enterprise Application Design
  • How the Browser and HTML Forms Interact with Server
  • Getting Started with Web Applications
  • Java Servlet Basics
  • JavaServer Page Technology
  • JSP 2.0 Implicitly Objects
  • Accessing Data with JDBC
  • The JSP Expression Language
  • Java Server Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL)
  • Interacting with JavaBeans

Two-Day Bioinformatics Workshop in IT

At our facility, we have also introduced an accelerated but effective Two-Day Introduction to Bioinformatics. The application of computers to biomedical and biological research is opening doors to new careers in healthcare and sharpening the skills of those already there. Our Bioinformatics workshop is intended for those with a background in programming, healthcare, or medical research. In addition to this abbreviated introduction, we have semester-long classes, online and on-site, devoted to the same subject. The entire program follows a sequence of three (3) courses, which you can complete in just six (6) months’ time. The program is centered on the key building blocks that lead to successful development of strategic data crunching tools as utilized in the-state-of-art Dry Lab environment of today's healthcare/biomedical research base.

Oracle Certification

Oracle Certified Associate (OCA): This credential is typically the first step toward achieving the flagship Oracle Certified Professional certification. The OCA credential ensures that the individual is equipped with fundamental skills, providing a strong foundation for supporting Oracle products. An OCA credential is available for several of today's most in-demand technology job roles.

Certification Exam: After students complete our Oracle course, they are encouraged to take the certification exam. If they pass they will receive the Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate certificate.
